Rattigan – who is being inducted posthumously – was a four-year member of the men's soccer program who ranks No. 2 in career points (103) and No. 3 in career goals (36). His best season came in 1965, when he racked up a single-season school-record 34 points – including a single-season record 18 assists – as the Bison finished the season undefeated (12-0-0). Last year, that team was inducted into the Hall of Honor.
"Jim was the consummate team player which was evident in the numerous assist records he holds," said former teammate and current Nichols Hall of Famer Phil Collins '66. "He had an unbelievable competitive spirt, which allowed him to make an immediate impact as a freshman starter. He was a big contributor on some of the best teams in the history of the program."
Rattigan's former head coach Ronald Gaudette added, "Of all the players I've coached in my lifetime, I'll always remember Jimmy because he gave 100 percent every time he took the field. He was an excellent player who was always in position to score a goal, assist a teammate or break up a play."
