NCAA Rules and Regulations

Nichols College is a member of NCAA Division III. The College is committed to taking institutional responsibility to abide by NCAA rules and regulations. Through the cooperation of administrators, coaches, faculty, student-athletes, and representatives of the College's athletic interests, Nichols is dedicated to maintaining control of its athletic programs in a manner that is consistent with the standards set by the NCAA.

Early and frequent education is a key component of assuming the principle of institutional control. This site is maintained to provide important information to alumni, athletic representatives, and fans, as well as current and prospective student-athletes.

Name, Image and Likeness (NIL)

  • Effective July 1, 2021, NCAA student-athletes are now generally permitted by the NCAA to earn compensation from the use of their name, image and likeness ("NIL"). All enrolled students who participate in an NCAA-sanctioned sport on behalf of Nichols College must adhere to our policies, outlined HERE.

Transfer Information
  • The NCAA allows a Division III Student-Athlete to fill out a self-release if he/she is interested in pursuing a transfer to another Division III school.  This self-release is good for 30 days.
  • During this time, no one will know you are looking into a transfer.  After 30 days, if the student-athlete wants to continue investigating his/her options with the school, the student-athlete must sign a second release.  After the original 30 days, the transfer can become public knowledge.
  • If you are interested in transferring to a Division I or Division II school, please contact the Compliance Officer.
  • Transfer Portal inquiries, reach out to kristan.mallet@nichols.edu. A student-athlete must have an NCAA ID prior to entering the portal.
