CONSTITUTION

BYLAWS
Established in 1972, the Nichols College Hall of Fame gives lasting recognition to those individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the prestige of Nichols College in the field of athletics through athletic achievements, service, or support of the department. It is an extraordinary honor reserved for our most accomplished student-athletes and transcendent leaders.

SELECTION COMMITTEE
The committee shall be composed of a maximum of fifteen (15) members. There shall be a maximum of ten (10) Nichols College Alumni and five (5) Non-alumni with voting privileges. The Athletic Director or Directors of Nichols College shall be members of the committee with voting privileges and not included in the maximum of fifteen (15) members.

APPOINTMENT TO THE COMMITTEE
Nominations of a new member shall be directed to the Chairperson. A prepared list of candidates for consideration for the Hall of Fame Committee shall be presented to the members of the committee for approval. Election to the Committee shall be by a majority vote of the required quorum of the voting Members present. The meeting for election of new members shall be held in fall of each year. New members shall be elected for a term of four (4) years. There shall be no restrictions on the number of consecutive terms a member may serve.
 
OFFICERS
The officers shall consist of a Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and Recording Secretary. The Chairperson and Recording Secretary shall be elected by the voting members of the committee every two years, one of which must be an Alumnus. There shall be no restrictions on the number of consecutive terms the officers may serve. The previously elected Chairperson shall hold the office of the Vice-Chairperson.  In the event of a vacancy in any of the offices, an election will be held at the next meeting of the committee to fill the unexpired term of the resigned officer. The Officer/alumnus shall also serve as the Athletic Hall of Fame Coordinator, with ex-officio status on the Nichols College Alumni Board of Directors.
 
RESIGNATIONS
Any member of the committee who feels unable to serve the committee in the required capacity may offer his or her resignation to the Chairperson. A letter of resignation should be submitted to the Chairperson, two months before the next meeting. A two-thirds vote of the required quorum of the voting members present is required for the acceptance of the resignation.
 
REMOVAL
Any member of the committee who is not in attendance for three consecutive meetings, or whose interest, in the judgment of the committee has waned, may be removed by a two-thirds vote of the required quorum of the voting members present at any meeting. This action may only occur after notification has been sent to the member one month prior to any action to be taken by the committee. Replacement on the committee of a member removed by the committee shall be by a two-thirds vote of the required quorum of the voting members present at any meeting, to fill the unexpired term of the removed committee member.
 
MEETINGS
A minimum of at least two meetings will be held during the college academic year, one in the fall (annual meeting) and one in the spring. Any special meetings of the committee may be called by the Chairperson with two (2) weeks notification to the members.
 
QUORUM
Seven voting members shall constitute a required quorum.
 
VOTING
All voting will be determined by a majority vote of the required quorum of the voting members present at any meeting, unless otherwise indicated.
 
HALL OF FAME ELIGIBILITY
Student-athletes, coaches and other individuals who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the Nichols College athletic programs may be considered.
 
Student-athletes should have graduated from Nichols College or Nichols Junior College more than five years ago and participated in intercollegiate athletics representing the College. No such consideration shall be necessary for coaches and other contributors.
 
Student-athletes shall be based primarily upon the demonstrated performance in a varsity sport for the overall period and not a single performance.
 
A biographical sheet of each nominee or Athletic Communications Department's summary of the student-athletes accomplishments must be submitted to the committee. It should contain information about the performances at Nichols College, pertinent to the review by the committee, to substantiate any consideration for recognition.
