Nichols College Athletics Hall of Fame
The men’s ice hockey program’s all-time leader in wins (58), shutouts (nine), goals against average (GAA) (2.26), and save percentage (.934), Larson backstopped the program to back-to-back Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northeast Championships and a pair of NCAA Tournament berths (2013-14 & 2014-15).
A two-time ECAC Goaltender of the Year, Larson was selected to the ECAC Northeast First Team (2012-13 & 2014-15) and led the nation in save percentage (.952) as a junior, when he earned both American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA)/CCM Division III All-American Third Team and All-New England Division II/III honors. His 1.77 GAA in 2014-15 was sixth in the nation.
The Madison, Alabama native opened his career with a bang in 2012-13, grabbing three ECAC Northeast Goalie of the Week honors and capped the year with an ECAC Northeast All-Rookie Team nod. The following season, Larson established single-season program records for GAA (1.77), saves (844), and save percentage (.952) as the Bison won their second conference championship in five seasons. Larson recorded 45 saves in a loss at SUNY Geneseo in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.
As a junior, Larson took home ECAC Goaltender of the Week honors four times and helped the Bison capture their second-straight ECAC Northeast crown. He turned aside all 46 shots he faced in the conference championship against Salve Regina before turning aside a career-high 53 shots in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament at Trinity (CT). Larson was one of five finalists for Joe Concannon Award, which is presented to the best Division II/III collegiate hockey player in New England. He closed his stellar career by posting a 2.18 GAA and a .930 save pct. as a senior, when he received the Jim Miller Award for Outstanding Male Senior Athlete from Nichols College.
Off the ice, Larson was named to the ECAC Northeast Academic All-Conference Team three times (2014-16) and the Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Division District 1 First Team as a sophomore.
