Carella graduated No. 1 in both singles (54) and doubles (50) wins in men's tennis history and guided the Bison to the fourth Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship in program history as a senior in 2012, when he was class Valedictorian at Nichols.

Carella was a three-time all-conference selection in both singles and doubles, highlighted by a pair of Second Team – Singles selections (2009 & 2010). He is also a three-time International Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete (2009-11) and the 2012 CCC Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

The Bison showed progress on the court in each of Carella's four seasons in Dudley. After suffering a setback in the CCC Quarterfinals during his freshman campaign of 2009, the Bison advanced to the CCC Semifinals in 2010 and the championship match in 2011, where they were upended by Roger Williams.

In 2012, the Bison not only rolled the Hawks in the conference championship match (5-1), but also earned the first NCAA Tournament win in program history when they defeated Marywood, 5-0. That year, he won a career-high 18 singles matches (.783 winning pct.) and another 10 in doubles play. Off the court, he received the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Scholar Athlete Award and was named to both the Capital One Academic All-America Division III At-Large First Team and the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Team. Carella also received the Major Charles T. Hopkins Award for Study, Sports and Spirit from Nichols.
