DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College men's tennis team hosted their annual Nichols Invitational this past weekend that included Springfield College, Regis, Clark (MA) and UMass Boston.
The Bison competed in every aspect of the tournament winning three of the five flights and making the finals in four of the five. Senior
Brandon Howard took the finals match in singles flight B, defeated Max Schweitzer of Clark University 6-4, 0-6, 10-7 in what was the only match to go three sets on the day. The Bison then picked up the win in singles flight C thanks to Junior
Sam Kluger who defeated Greg baker of Springfield College 6-0, 6-1.
Nichols then went on to win doubles flight A, with the duo pair of
Peter Coletti and
Kerem Subasi taking down Chris Rubens and Dariy Vykhodtsev of Clark University 8-6. "In singles,
Jack Donaldson gutted out a great match in the C flight, and Kluger played a dominant match to win the C final." Said Nichols head coach
Paul Brower. "
Brandon Howard shook off a tough start to pull out a 3 setter in the B flight. I think the most impressive performance of the day goes to Pete Coletti and
Kerem Subasi. They won the A doubles flight after falling behind 0-3 in the final."
