Men's Tennis Competes in Springfield Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (10/3/2026) - The Nichols College men's tennis team competed in a pair of match ups Saturday at the Springfield Invitational, participating in individual singles games as well as doubles bouts against Springfield College and the United States Coast Guard Academy.

Nichols opened the day against host Springfield, with the two teams splitting their 12 contested matches.


In doubles action, Pablo Carrascosa and Felipe Gonzalez picked up a 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles for the Bison. William Bergendahl and Andrew Rice also earned a doubles victory, defeating their Springfield opponents 6-4.


Springfield claimed the other two doubles flights, taking No. 2 doubles, 7-6 (5), and No. 3 doubles, 6-4.

Nichols continued to battle in singles play, earning four victories. Carrascosa posted a three-set win at No. 1 singles, defeating Deagan Tomkins, 6-4, 0-6, 10-1.

At No. 3 singles, Jodha Singh earned a victory after Austin Prendiville retired with Singh leading 6-2, 3-2. Andrew Emmel also battled back for a three-set victory at No. 7 singles, defeating Ricardo Rodriguez, 6-2, 3-6, 10-7.


Alexander Snitko rounded out the Nichols singles victories with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph at No. 8 singles.


Springfield collected wins at Nos. 2, 4, 5 and 6 singles.


Vs. Coast Guard


Nichols closed the day against the United States Coast Guard Academy.


The Bison swept the three completed doubles matches. Carrascosa and Nicolas Stembert Krad teamed up at No. 1 doubles, while Arthur Santos and Gonzalez won at No. 2 doubles. Emmel and Bergendahl completed the doubles sweep with a 6-0 victory at No. 3.


Nichols carried that momentum into singles play, winning four of the six completed matches.


Stembert Krad earned a three-set victory at No. 2 singles, defeating Ford, 6-7 (3), 6-2, 10-6. Rodolfo Hernandez cruised to a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles, while Mason Harris posted a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 5.


At No. 6 singles, Joshua Zenczak battled back for a three-set victory over McWhite, 6-3, 3-6, 10-7.


Coast Guard claimed the other two completed singles matches, including a three-set victory over Carrascosa at No. 1 singles and a three-set win over Alexander Snitko at No. 4.


Nichols College men's tennis returns to action on Thursday, October 8th, hosting Emerson College for a 4:00 PM match up on the Robinson Tennis Courts.
