Men's Tennis Drops Close Decision to Emerson College, 4-3

DUDLEY, Mass. (10/8/2026) - The Nichols College men's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 4-3 decision to Emerson College on Thursday afternoon at the Robinson Tennis Courts.

The Bison fall to 0-2 on the season, while the Lions improve to 1-0.

Nichols battled in doubles play but was unable to secure the opening point. At No. 1 doubles, Felipe Gonzalez and Pablo Carrascosa fell to Connor Leung and Fillippo Nocchi, 6-1. Arthur Santos and Nicolas Stembert Krad dropped a close 7-5 decision at No. 2 doubles, while Jodha Singh and Mason Harris also fell by a 7-5 score at the No. 3 spot, giving Emerson a 1-0 lead heading into singles competition.

The Bison responded with three singles victories to keep the match close. Singh earned a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles, defeating Alexey Oshchepkov, 6-4, 6-2. Rodolfo Hernandez followed with a win at No. 4 singles, rallying past Tai Finestone, 7-6, 6-4.

Andrew Emmel also delivered a strong performance at No. 6 singles, earning a dominant 6-1, 6-2 victory over Cameron McAllister to secure Nichols' third team point.

Emerson claimed the remaining singles matches to secure the 4-3 victory. At No. 1 singles, Carrascosa battled back after dropping the opening set to take the second, 6-4, before falling in the deciding set, 6-3. Gonzalez fell at No. 2 singles in a competitive match, 6-2, 7-6, while Santos dropped a competitive three-set decision at No. 5 singles, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Nichols College men's tennis returns to action for their last fall bout against Wheaton College (Mass.) on Friday, October 16th. Match start is set for 3:00 PM at the Robinson Tennis Courts.
