DUDLEY, Mass. (10/15/2026) - The Nichols College men's tennis team earned a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Wheaton College (Mass.) on Thursday afternoon at the Robinson Tennis Courts.

The Bison improved to 1-2 on the season with the non-conference win, Wheaton evened their record now 1-1 with the loss.

Nichols opened the afternoon with a strong showing in doubles play, taking two of the three matches to claim the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, Pablo Carrascosa and Felipe Gonzalez battled to a 7-6 victory over Jaime Galligo and Landon Wyshner. Previously, Rodolfo Hernandez and Arthur Santos secured a convincing 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles over Luis Gomez Tinoco and Jake Murray. Wheaton claimed the No. 3 doubles match, with Pablo Munoz and Pablo Paniagua earning a 7-6 victory over Mason Harris and Jodha Singh.

The Bison carried their momentum into singles competition, earning three victories to secure the team result. Carrascosa delivered a comeback performance at No. 1 singles, recovering from a first-set loss to defeat Galligo, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Santos added a straight-set victory at No. 5 singles, defeating Paniagua, 6-2, 6-2.

Andrew Emmel provided another key point for Nichols at No. 6 singles. After dropping the opening set, 0-6, Emmel rallied to take the second set, 6-4, before closing out the match with a 6-2 victory in the deciding set.

Wheaton claimed victories at the second, third and fourth singles positions, with Wyshner defeating Gonzalez, 6-2, 7-6; Munoz topping Singh, 6-1, 7-5; and Gomez Tinoco earning a 6-4, 6-2 win over Hernandez. Despite the three singles losses, Nichols' doubles advantage and three singles victories proved enough to secure the 4-3 win.

The Bison will next play in the spring, opening conference play against Gordon College in March with a date and time still to be announced.
