The Nichols College men's tennis program competed at a pair of tournaments this past weekend at Western New England and Emerson College.
Western New England Doubles Invitational
Three teams competed in Springfield, Massachusetts in doubles action – Salve Regina, Nichols College, and Western New England.
Nichols College seniors
Blake Norton, and
Sebastian Penaloza defeated student-athletes from Salve Regina 8-0 in round one, as well as the quarterfinals. Norton and Penaloza eventually meet fellow teammates, juniors
Brandon Howard and
Guilherme Barbosa in the finals. In a tight match, Norton and Penaloza would pull out the victory 8-6 to claim the title.
Nichols College had four other student-athletes compete this weekend – senior
Aidan Stuart, junior
Chase Pierce, sophomore
Brendan Stierli, and freshman
Enrico Menegon.
Emerson College Tournament
Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts hosted a tournament that included Nichols College, Wentworth, Emerson College, and UMass Dartmouth. All programs had student-athletes compete in singles and doubles competition.
Bison junior
Peter Coletti was able to claim the Flight B singles title over Emerson College senior Daniel Okin 6-2, 6-2, as well as picking up the doubles title with partner, senior
Igor Markowski over Okin and freshman Lin Yisheng 9-8 (6).

Kirill Ivanov and sophomore
Nicolas Bezada in the doubles semifinals match 8-4. Nichols also had student-athletes,
Bruno Cavalcanti,
Jack Donaldson,
Lane Parks, and
Michael Dallaire compete in both singles and doubles play.

Three things you need to know…
-The Bison picked up a total of three titles across the two tournaments.
-With Markowski's three doubles wins at Emerson College, his career total is now 52 doubles wins, which is sixth all-time in program history.
-The Bison swept their opposition eight times this weekend, combined between the two tournaments.
