WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Following a 5-0 win over Baruch College in the NCAA Tournament First Round, the Nichols College men's tennis team has advanced to take on No. 8 Amherst College in the Second Round on Saturday, May 12, at 1:30 p.m. on the campus of Williams College.

The Bison enter the Second Round at 20-3 overall after defeating the Bearcats on Friday afternoon. The Bison cruised through doubles play before sophomores Jack Donaldson and Guilherme Barbosa delivered singles wins at No. 6 and No. 2 singles, respectively, to advance to the next stage.
 
Nichols has qualified for the NCAA Tournament in seven-straight seasons, posting a 6-6 overall record while winning their First Round matchup in four-straight years. The Bison are 6-1 all-time in the NCAA Tournament against schools not from the NESCAC, and will be looking for their first NCAA postseason win (0-5) against the conference on Saturday afternoon.
 
This will be the sixth meeting between the two programs in a series that dates back to 1948, and the Mammoths are 5-0 all-time against the Bison. Saturday marks the first meeting between the two squads since 2013, and the two teams previously met in the NCAA Second Round back in 2012.
 
Amherst earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament and earned a First Round bye after posting an 11-6 overall record while ranking eighth in the nation. The Mammoths are making their 19th NCAA Tournament appearance, which includes National Championships in 2011 and 2014, and are trying to advance to the Regional Final for the ninth time in the past 10 seasons.
 
Saturday's other Second Round matchup will feature Goucher (24-4) against the host #4 Williams (13-4) also at 1:30 p.m. Goucher advanced to the Second Round by defeating Messiah 5-0 on Friday, while Williams earned a First Round bye.
