DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College men's tennis team defeated Wentworth 7-2 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Wednesday afternoon at the Robinson Tennis Courts.
 
The Bison led 2-1 after doubles before taking five of the six singles matches.
 
Sophomores Igor Markowski (Paris, France) and Kirill Ivanov (Moscow, Russia) scored an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles to get the day started against junior Seng Ly (Lynn, Mass.) and senior Zach Peter (Preston, Conn.).
 
The Leopards clawed right back with a win at No. 3 doubles, 8-4, to even the score. Senior Thinh Dang (Boston, Mass.) and freshman Alex Mularski (Auburn, Mass.) defeated seniors Dan Roberts (South Windsor, Conn.) and Dan Sullivan (Burlington, Mass.).
 
The Bison took the lead right back as sophomore Blake Norton (Stratford, Conn.) and freshman Brandon Howard (Hamden, Conn.) took down senior Matthew Smith (Pelham, N.H.) and junior Jeff Tocco (Plymouth, Mass.), 8-4.
 
Markowski started things up for the Bison in singles – winning in the No. 4 slot 6-0, 6-0 over Peter. Senior Jake Zapatka (Wethersfield, Conn.) followed that up with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles over Ly.
 
Norton defeated Smith in the top flight by an identical score to Zapatka's before Howard knocked off Tocco at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-2.
 
Dang picked up the Leopards second point of the day winning No. 5 singles over Sullivan. After dropping the first set, he rallied back to take the final two sets 4-6, 6-2, 10-8.
 
Freshman Chris Chardron (Franconia, N.H.) won in similar fashion at No. 6 singles to close out the day. After dropping the first set to Mularski, Chardron came back to win it 4-6, 6-2, 10-7.
 
All-Time Series
This is the 12th-consecutive win for the Bison over the Leopards and they now lead the all-time series at, 26-3. Wentworth's won three-straight meetings from 2005-07.
