POMFRET, CONN. – The Nichols College men's tennis team defeated Salve Regina University 9-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon at the Pomfret Tennis Courts.
The Bison swept through doubles before coming around and doing the same in singles.
Sophomores
Kirill Ivanov (Moscow, Russia) and
Igor Markowsk (Paris, France) took care of business in the top flight of doubles, winning 8-2 over junior Will Masse (Wyoming, R.I.) and freshman Aaron White (Falmouth, Mass.).
The Bison then won No. 2 doubles 8-3 and No. 3 doubles 8-2 with freshman
Guilerhme Barbosa (Bradenton, Fla.) and sophomore
Andrew Gore (Easton, Conn.) defeating junior Kevin Brocks (Albany, N.Y.) and sophomore Zach Monohan (Stoughton, Mass.) before freshmen
Max Karger (Medfield, Mass.) and
Jon Konecny (Southport, Conn.) knocked off freshman Dante Petrosino (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) and sophomore Kevin Hunt (Higganum, Conn.), respectively.
In singles, sophomore
Blake Norton (Stratford, Conn.) defeated Masse, 6-0, 6-0 in the top flight before freshman
Brandon Howard (Hamden, Conn.) defeated Brocks, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
Freshman
Jack Donaldson (Easton, Md.) swept White 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles before senior
Jake Zapatka (Wethersfield, Conn.) won his No. 4 singles match 6-2, 6-2 over Monahan.
Freshman
Peter Coletti (Beverly, Mass.) won his No. 5 singles match over Petrosino 6-0, 6-1 and sophomore
Chris Chardron (Franconia, N.H.) closed out the day with a 6-3, retired win at no. 6 singles.
