DUDLEY, Mass. (Apr. 11) – The Nichols College men's tennis team won its ninth-straight match, dealing visiting Roger Williams a 7-2 loss at the Francis W. Robinson Courts Wednesday afternoon.  It was a rematch of the 2011 Commonwealth Coast Conference championship, a 5-1 Roger Williams win in Dudley, but Nichols prevailed, leading 2-1 after doubles and winning third through sixth singles despite a lengthy rain delay after the start of singles play.

Nichols (10-3, 3-0) got a quick third doubles win from Isiah Prosper and Justin DeLuca, and outlived a test at the second flight as Arsen Gasparyan and Dan Saucier held on for an 8-5 victory of Jeff DeNunzio and Taylor Webster in their first pairing together.

Roger Williams (5-6, 2-1) took the top doubles flight in a lengthy battle, seeing Jason Pacino and Ryan Swanson edge Brandon Roode and Steve Carella, 8-6.

Roode made quick work of DeNunzio at the top singles flight, ousting him, 6-2, 6-1 before Carella defeated Webster at the fifth flight, 6-4, 6-1. DeLuca clinched the match in his first singles appearance of the season without dropping a game to Jonathan Chandler.

Prosper and Gasparyan followed with straight-set victories at the fourth and third spots, respectively, and David Drucker battled through injury to a super tiebreak loss to Zack Bussiere.

Nichols looks to remain perfect in CCC action on Saturday in a noon match at Gordon. Roger Williams hosts Curry Saturday at 1 p.m. for a conference match.
