RIO PIEDRAS, Puerto Rico (Mar. 16) – The Nichols College men's tennis team closed out its spring trip with a 3-0 record Friday after an 8-1 win at University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras. The Bison improve to 6-3 on the year after winning the last five consecutive matches including all three against Division II squads in Puerto Rico.

Senior Dan Saucier rallied back from down 0-5 in the first to post a 7-6 (11-9), 6-3 win over Edgar Arroyo at sixth singles. He and sophomore Isiah Prosper were victorious on the doubles side with an 8-1 third flight victory.

Arsen Gasparyan and David Drucker easily won at second doubles, 8-1, to sweep the three matches on the trip. Both were straight-set winners on the singles side this afternoon.

Brandon Roode closed out his super tiebreak win with an ace, defeating Erwin Lopez, 6-2, 5-7 1-0 (10-6) at the top singles flight. Steve Carella finished out his perfect trip with a three-set win at third singles, winning 6-2, 4-6, 6-1.

Nichols returns home to host Rhode Island College on March 20 in a 3:30 p.m. match at the Pomfret School indoor courts.
