BABSON PARK, Mass. (Mar. 10) - Nichols won four of the six singles matches to rally from an early 2-1 deficit en route to a 5-4 victory over host Babson in a non-conference men's tennis contest at the Boston Sports Club on Saturday evening. With the win, Nichols evened its season record at 3-3, while the Beavers fell to 2-2.
 
Junior Rushab Tanna and first-year Sanjay Zimmerman gave Babson a quick 1-0 lead with an 8-2 victory at third doubles, while the first-year tandem of Connor DeFiore and Ramone Doyley provided the Beavers' second point by pulling out a 9-8 (7-5) win at number one. Nichols managed to salvage a doubles victory at number two, where senior Arsen Gasparyan and senior David Drucker won another tight match in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (7-5).
 
Babson received straight-set singles victories from senior Nissim Cohen-Sabban at number three and senior captain Danny Schneider at number six, but Nichols would take the remaining four duels to claim the overall match, 5-4. First-year Brandon Roode won his match at one, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2, Drucker added a 6-3, 6-4 victory at two, and Gasparyan cruised at four, 6-4, 6-1. The decisive match came at number five, where Nichols sophomore Isiah Prosper pulled out a hard-fought 6-2, 6-7 (8-10), 6-3 win.
 
Both teams will return to action on their respective spring break trips. Babson heads to California for four contests starting with a Williams-Salisbury doubleheader on March 19, while the Bison travel to Puerto Rico for three matches beginning with UPR-Bayamon on March 14.
