BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Senior Justin DeLuca (Mashpee, Mass.) claimed No. 2 singles for the Bison as the Nichols College men's tennis team fell to Babson, 8-1, in a non-conference match at the Farwell Courts on Monday afternoon. With the win, Babson moved over the .500 mark at 2-1 on the year, while the Bison slip to 3-1.

The Beavers swept the doubles session and clinched the match after singles wins by first-year Victor Vu (Los Angeles, Calif.) and senior Simeon Human (Trelex Vaud, Switzerland). DeLuca then broke up the shutout with a 6-1, 6-4 victory. 

Babson first-year Roberto Perez (Pozuelo de Alarcon, Spain) defeated Bison sophomore Brandon Roode (Griswold, Conn.), 5-7, 6-1, 7-5 in a highly anticipated rematch. Just four days ago Roode had topped Perez , 7-5, 6-3, in the first round at the USTA/ITA DIvision III New England Regional Championships. The Beavers went on to take the final three flights for the 8-1 final.
 
Both teams have one match remaining on their fall schedules. Nichols plays at MIT on October 13 at 1:00 p.m. while Babson closes out its fall with a 3:00 p.m. match at Wesleyan this Friday.
