WORCESTER, Mass. (April 16) – The Nichols College men's tennis team kept its perfect The Commonwealth Coast Conference record intact Saturday afternoon with a 7-2 victory over Salve Regina in a conference match played at the Holy Cross Tennis Courts. Nichols improves to 13-4 overall and 10-0 in TCCC matches, while Salve Regina falls to 4-11 overall and 4-5 in TCCC play.

Nichols led, 2-1, after doubles play, getting points with big wins and the second and third flights. The Seahawks earned an 8-5 top-flight win from Zachary Rosenfeld and Chad Strong.

Isiah Prosper (Manchester, N.H.) clinched the match for Nichols at the fifth singles flight with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Colin Gunning, after Eliot Wuhrmann (Fontainebleau, France) and Daniel Young (Washington Depot, Conn.) were winners at the sixth and fourth flights respectively. Prosper and Wuhrmann extended their conference unbeaten streaks, and will look to run the table in TCCC play in the Bison's final conference match next Wednesday.

Steve Carella (Rocky Hill, Conn.) battled Rosenfeld in a superset tiebreak victory, and rallied for a 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8) win. Aaron Isch closed out the match with a lengthy superset tiebreak win, coming back to defeat Tyler McLaughlin (Hollis, N.H.), 2-6, 7-6 (7-2), 1-0 (10-5).

Nichols travels to Western New England College Wednesday at 3:30 for a potential top seed-deciding match for the upcoming TCCC tournament. Salve Regina hosts Regis Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the Seahawks' regular-season finale.
