BOSTON, Mass. (April 7) – The Nichols College men's tennis team swept the singles side en route to a 7-2 victory over Wentworth in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference match Wednesday. The Bison rallied from a 2-1 deficit after doubles play to win their seventh-straight match and remain undefeated in TCCC action at 5-0. Nichols stands at 10-4 overall while Wentworth evens out at 3-3 overall and 3-2 in TCCC play.
Nichols got its only doubles point at the third flight, an 8-6 win from David Drucker (Bellmore, N.Y.) and Eliot Wuhrmann (Fontainbleau, France). Drucker was an easy victor in singles play with a speedy 6-0, 6-0 win at the second spot, his third shutout win in conference play and seventh consecutive victory this season. Wuhrmann posted a 6-4, 6-2 win in the fourth singles spot.
Justin DeLuca (Mashpee, Mass.) remained unbeaten on the year with a 6-0, 6-2 win at the top singles flight, and Steve Carella (Rocky Hill, Conn.) cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles for his seventh-straight win. Tyler McLaughlin (Hollis, N.H.) added a 6-2, 6-2 win in the fifth spot, and Dan Young (Washington Depot, Conn.) posted a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the sixth flight to go to 3-0 in conference play.
The Bison host Eastern Nazarene on Thursday at 4 p.m. before starting a three-match road trip at Gordon on Saturday at 1 p.m.
