DUDLEY, Mass. (Apr. 1) – The Nichols College men's tennis team won its fourth consecutive match Thursday afternoon, defeating Anna Maria College, 8-1, in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference match at the Francis W. Robinson Courts. Nichols improves to 7-4 overall and 2-0 in TCCC matches, while Anna Maria still searches for its first win at 0-5 and 0-4 in conference action.
Nichols led, 2-1, after doubles play, getting wins at the first and third flights. Freshman James Maloney and sophomore Adam Williamson earned the AMCATS' lone point with an 8-5 win at the second flight. Nichols newcomers Mark Capitanio (Mansfield, Mass.) and Mike Schell (South Windsor, Conn.) were victorious in their debut at third doubles, 8-1.
Sophomore Ari Vieira (Pawtucket, R.I.) won his first singles match of the season in the sixth spot, while Eliot Wuhrmann (Fontainbleau, France) ran his win streak to five matches with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles. David Drucker (Bellmore, N.Y.) and Tyler McLaughlin (Hollis, N.H.) both won their fourth-straight singles matches with wins at the second and third flights, respectively.
Nichols continues TCCC action with a noon match Saturday at Regis. Anna Maria travels to Eastern Nazarene for a 3:30 p.m. conference match on Wednesday, April 7.
