MILTON, Mass. – The Nichols College men's tennis team improved to 3-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference with an 8-1 victory at Curry Saturday. The Bison swept the doubles side with a pair of big wins and a 9-7 victory in the top spot from Jack Baker (Cheshire, Conn.) and Tyler McLaughlin (Hollis, N.H.). Baker went on to win at No. 3 singles in a super tiebreak, 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5).
Stephen Carella (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and Oliver McNutt (East Lyme, Conn.) rolled to their 10th-straight win at No. 2 doubles, placing them second in the Nichols record books for doubles victories in a season (10). They stand behind Ryan Ankstitus and Justin Griffin, who hold the record of 13 attained in 2001.
Nichols (9-3, 3-0 TCCC) continues conference action at Colby-Sawyer on Wednesday, April 1, in a 4 p.m. match.
