DUDLEY, Mass. (6/11/2026) – The Nichols men's golf program rose to the occasion in 2025-26, earning a pair of team medals out of nine total tournaments played while setting several program records throughout.
Under the leadership and guidance of newly appointed head coach
Don Lemieux, the Bison immediately made an impact right out of the gate. Their season opened with a notable 3
rd place finish at the 6
th Annual Warrior Invitational, hosted by Eastern Connecticut State at the Mohegan Sun Golf Club. In addition to a 596 (+36) team performance, the program's lowest two-round total since the 2008 campaign, senior
Cameron Desante won individual medalist honors for the first time in his collegiate career at 137 (-3) through both rounds. His outing started with an opening round of three-under par 67, the lowest single-round score by a Bison player since the 2006-07 season, and ended in what was the lowest combined performance by a Bison player in the same timeframe (2006-07).
Soon thereafter, Nichols turned in its first team medal of the campaign at the Westfield State Brett Williamson Invitational, carding a 15-over 299 to best Lesley University and host Westfield State by more than 30 strokes. Desante was once again an individual medalist for the event, but had to share it with junior teammate
Nick White, with the two Bison carding 73 (+2) on the day. Sophomore
Brady Salah was also in the fray, placing third at 75 (+4) to round out the top three.
After a tough outing at the CNE Championship, Nichols rebounded and closed out the fall portion of their season at the NEIGA Championship on October 18-19, where they finished in a three-way tie for 8
th place out of 22 competing programs, shooting 625 (+49) on the weekend.
In the spring, Nichols found its groove late in the game with back-to-back standout performances, which started with a head-to-head win in their Bison Spring Invitational against Worcester State University, where White earned the individual medal with a 73 (+1) at Crestview Country Club, with all five Bison players occupying the top-five spots on the leaderboard. Then, to cap off the year, Nichols narrowly placed 2
nd of five teams by way of a tiebreaker at the Gordon College Shootout, where Desante returned with his third individual victory with a 68 (+3), which tied for second all-time for single-round scoring.
