GILBERT, Ariz. – Nichols College senior Erin Kelley, along with freshmen Mackenzie Doran and Hailey Meader, have been named 2020 Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Scholars of Distinction.

The Division III Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade point average (GOA) of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2019-20 academic year.

The 2019 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Kelley is an accounting major with a 4.0 grade point average (GPA). A three-time CCC Academic All-Conference pick (2017-19), the Dighton, Mass. native conducted an internship with Amica Mutual Insurance. Kelley started all 17 games this past season and scored a career-high six goals. She was named to the Scholars of Distinction list in 2018.

Doran led the Bison in both assists (five) and points (23), and was second on the team and 13th in the CCC in goals (nine). The Wolfeboro, N.H. native potted her first collegiate goal at Clark (MA) on September 3 and scored twice in a win at Lasell four days later. A business management major, Doran also two assists against both Roger Williams (Sept. 18) and Western New Eng. (Oct. 22).
Meader is a psychology and criminal justice major who made her collegiate debut against the Cougars in early September. The Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts native also played against Anna Maria on September 12.

A total of 321 student-athletes were named to the squad – including 16 from the CCC. Nichols joined Salve Regina, Gordon, and Endicott with three student-athletes each, followed by Roger Williams with two and both UNE and Western New England with one.
