Bison close fall campaign with sixth place finish at NEIGA Championship

BREWSTER, Mass. – Sophomore Nick Wage (Holden, Mass.) shot a season-low 74 on the final day of competition at the 2014 New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Division III Championship Monday to help the Bison secure sixth place at The Captains Golf Course.

Wage – who shot an 83 on Sunday – finished at +13 (157), which was tops amongst all Nichols golfers and placed him in a tie for 16th place overall.

Senior Kevin Wheeler (Agawam, Mass.) – who finished seven-over par (79) on Sunday – shot an 80 on Monday (+8) to finish at +15 (159) and earn a share of 24th place.

Junior Colin Whitney (Longmeadow, Mass.) shot an 80 for the second-straight day to finish at +16 (160) and in a tie for 27th place overall.

Senior Tyler Sleeper (Indian Orchard, Mass.) shaved two strokes off Sunday's 85 to post an 83 and close the event at +24 (168), giving him a share of 58th place. This was the first action of the fall for Sleeper.

Freshman Alex Thompson (Concord, N.H.) duplicated Sunday's 88 to give him a two-day total of 176 (+32) and a share of 84th place.

Rhode Island College rallied back to the win the event at +39 (615). The Anchormen cut 17 strokes off their first day total of 316 to come from three back to defeat Babson, which captured second place at +53 (629). Western New England was third (+54; 630), followed by Husson (+61; 637) and Elms (+66; 642).
