The Huskies even out at 3-3-0 overall and improve to 3-2-0 in league play while the Bison fall to 2-4-2 on the season and 0-4-1 in ECAC action.
All the scoring in the game came in the second period. Southern Maine grabbed a 1-0 lead at 9:47 as sophomore Bridget O'Brien wristed a 20-foot shot over the shoulder of the Nichols goaltender for her first collegiate goal. Less than three minutes later, the Huskies got what proved to be the game-winning marker as senior Katie Paradis converted a pass from junior Kailey Bubier into her second goal of the season. Sophomore netminder
Francesca Palazzo stopped Bubier's initial shot, but Bubier pursued the rebound to make a pass out to Paradis who buried the shot.

Bridget Griffin fired home a shot through a screen into the upper left corner for a power-play goal. Rookies
Kerri Nadeau and
Talia Hohmann earned the assists.
The Bison carried the play to the Huskies following what proved to be the game-winner, but were unable to get an equalizer to cross the goal line. Until the Paradis goal, Southern Maine held a 20-7 advantage on shots. Nichols then went on to outshoot the Huskies 19-7 which included the tally by Griffin.
Bergstrom made 14 of her 28 saves in the final stanza as Palazzo finished the game with 24 stops.
Both teams are back on the ice tomorrow. Nichols travels to Plymouth State for a 2:30 p.m. contest while Southern Maine entertains Manhattanville at 1:00 p.m.
