Women’s Ice Hockey Shines in Senior Day Clash Against Curry, Winning 3-2

BURILLVILLE, R.I. (2/14/2026) - The Nichols College women's ice hockey program made their way to home ice of Levy Rink on Saturday to face Curry College in conference play. Following all three periods of play, the Bison skated off with a convincing 3-2 win over the Colonels.

With the win, Nichols improves to a 7-17-0 record on the season, with a 4-13-0 record against Conference of New England (CNE) opponents. The Colonels fall 10-11-2 in their season standing, 5-9-2 in the CNE.

Prior to the game, six Nichols College seniors were honored for their contributions to the program as a whole, on and off the ice. The event recognized Ema Jaskova, Taylor Breen, Felicia Zander, Carly Messer, Paige Almon, and captain Avery Moriarty. The crowd saw a strong presence from peers, as the game day also invited fellow Bison to the women's ice hockey team's second SAAC Athletes-4-Athletes game.

For their first period of competition, the Bison boasted a full senior lineup to start the game, further acknowledging the tenured group. Nichols defended an early Curry push behind several saves from Almon before generating a score midway through the period. At 15:35, Keira Goffe finished a scoring look created by Kaylyn Bourque and Kerstin Ambruso to give the Bison a 1-0 lead. The Colonels added pressure late and earned a power play in the final two minutes, but Nichols' defense held firm to sustain their advantage into intermission, 1-0.

In the second period, Nichols doubled their lead early when Bourque sank a shot on a well-placed puck from Breen and Goffe at 16:51 to make it 2-0 for the Bison. The Colonels were able to find a hole in the defense at the 9:29 mark, putting themselves on the board short-handed, now trailing 2-1. Following the score, Curry continued to utilize their momentum to produce an equalizer at 5:41, both teams skating off the ice for intermission evenly set, 2-2.

Defending a power-play early into the third, the Bison flipped the pressure in their favor to produce a game-winning goal. A shot on the net from Anaglisa Caceda saw the back of the net, thanks to assists from Isabelle Brennan and Kasey Litwin at 8:00, effectively putting them ahead 3-2, now having to maintain their lead to come out with a conference win. Nichols did just that, highlighting a stellar performance from goaltender Almon, who defended multiple scoring attempts with the Colonels having an extra skater due to their goaltender being called off. Almon produced a career-high 39 saves on the night to help the Bison hold out against Curry, featuring 14 blocks as a team to add to their defensive efforts.

The Bison will return for their last home game of the 2025-26 season on Friday, February 20th, to face off against conference opponent Endicott College. Game start is set for 4:40 PM.
