Box Score

HARRISVILLE, R.I. (Jan. 6) – The Connecticut College women's ice hockey team snapped a five-game winless streak with a 3-0 victory over Nichols College Wednesday evening at June Rockwell Levy Rink. First-year forward Ariel DiPasquale scored two goals to help the Camels improve to 2-7-1 overall on the season. Nichols, which received 51 saves from junior netminder Christine Rigosi (Ridgewood, N.Y.) falls to 1-8-1 on the year.

Rigosi stood tall in the first period to keep the Camels off the board with 21 saves, but DiPasquale struck at 11:12 of the second frame to give Connecticut College the lead. After Ashleigh Kowtoniuk hit the left pipe, the puck fell loose in front of the net. A Nichols player swiped the puck through the crease out toward the right where DiPasquale knocked it in.

Carrying a 41-10 shot advantage into the third, the Camels solved Rigosi in the final frame, first with a power-play marker just 42 seconds into the frame, and then with a four-on-four tally with a little over three minutes to play.

After a Nichols player was whistled for interference just 11 seconds into the third period, Kowtoniuk sent a go-ahead pass to Celia Medeiros in the left circle. Medeiros fired across to the right side of the net where the puck deflected off a Nichols defender's stick and past Rigosi. Molly Murphy set up the play to earn the second assist.

Brigid O'Gorman found DiPasquale at the netfront to jam the puck under Rigosi for her second of the night and the final tally.

Nichols had several opportunities late, notably a breakout pass from Haylie Carter (Forney, Texas) to Mandy Manopla (West Palm Beach, Fla.) that Manopla carried all the way in before missing just wide left.

Sara Christopher stopped 15 shots in the win. Rigosi, who was celebrating her birthday, saved 51 of 54 shots.

The Camels finished 1-for-10 on the power play while Nichols was unable to convert in eight opportunities.

The Bison resume ECAC East action Saturday at league-leading Holy Cross in a 2 p.m. game. Connecticut College gets back into NESCAC action with a pair of games at No. 1 Amherst Friday (7 p.m.) and Saturday (3 p.m.).
