DUDLEY, Mass. – Nichols College senior golfer Pat Pio (Somers, Conn.) has been named All-New England for the fourth consecutive year, it was announced recently. Pio tied for 10th individually among the 200-player field at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship last week, leading the Bison to a 15th-place finish overall and a fifth-place finish among Division III teams.
Pio fired a one-over-par 73 on both days of the tournament to card his best career score at the 36-hole championship (146).
The NEIGA awards All-New England honors to the top six golfers from each Division at the NEIGA Championship. Pio finished second among DIII golfers in 2009 and 2008, and was fifth in 2007. In his freshman year, Pio finished sixth in Division III.
Pio, a PING All-American, played a tremendous fall season with medalist performances at the Trinity Invitational, the ECAC Division III Championship and the The Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship. He took home silver medalist honors at the Duke Nelson Invitational hosted by Middlebury College, and placed third at the Nichols College Invitational.
