Senior Johnny Knox was a name frequently heard throughout the spring, as he finished the year as one of the best individual performers in Nichols College baseball history. In addition to claiming Player of the Year honors from the CCC, he was additionally named D3Baseball.com All-Region II Player of the Year and ABCA/Rawlings Region II Position Player of the Year, and most recently named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American. Knox was named an ABCA/Rawlings All-American Second Team, as well as a D3Baseball.com All-American Second Team Secnd Team.Â
Knox finished the spring batting .419, totaling 75 hits, 54 RBI and a conference-best 59 runs scored. Knox was also the CCC leader hits (75) and total bases (128), and ranked second in home runs (13), slugging percentage (.715), and runs batted in (54). He set the program's single season total base record, single season home run record, single season hit record, and finished in second all-time for single season runs batted in and career home runs. Knox was just the second Academic All-American player in program history and became the first player to earn multiple All-American awards in program history.
