Ed Zywien was named an American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-American in 1981. Zywien, a senior linebacker, finished tied for the team lead in interceptions with five, returned for 81 yards. He was named an ECAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week when he picked off two passes. broke up three, recovered a fumble and recorded nine tackles in the game. He was inducted into the Nichols Athletics Hall of Fame in 1991.Â
