Men's Track & Field Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

Men's and Women's Track & Field Compete at CCC Championship

WENHAM, MASS. — The Nichols men's and women's track & field programs concluded their 2023 regular season at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship on Saturday afternoon at the Brigham Athletic Complex, located on the campus of Gordon College. The Bison placed fifth on the men's side, and seventh on the women's side in their first conference championship under first-year head coach Makayla Norton. Below are the point scorers for both squads. 

Men:

Graduate student Jared Mason led the team with 28 points, securing 1st place in the 100-meter race (11.21 seconds) and long jump (6.76m), and 2nd place in the 200-meter race (23.03 seconds). Senior Martin Dupuy contributed 16 points, finishing 2nd in shot put (13.84m) and discus (39.46m). Junior Domenic Savastano scored 10 points with a school record 9:56.30 in the 3000m steeplechase (2nd place) and participation in the 5th place 4x400m relay (3:38.70).

Additionally, senior Tyler Zurowski added 8 points with a 2nd place finish in javelin (48.95m). Junior Archie Killian earned 7 points, placing 6th in javelin (45.38m) and 3rd in high jump (1.70m). Junior Cedrick Toussaint secured 6 points, finishing 3rd in the 200-meter race (23.06 seconds), while freshman Tyler Sandford also scored 6 points with a 3rd place finish in shot put (12.40m).

Senior Lucas Couture contributed 3 points, placing 5th in the 110 hurdles (17.38 seconds) and 6th in the pole vault (3.25m).  Freshman Garry Alexis, and sophomores Gregory Sadlak, Luke Grogan, and Jack Hearn each added 2 points for their respective 5th-place finishes in discus (36.41m) and participation in the 4x400m relay (3:38.70).

Women:

Graduate student Maddie Clark led the women's team with 4 points, placing 5th in the 100-meter race (13.21 seconds) and participating in the 5th place 4x100m relay (55.68 seconds). Juniors Rajchel Smardon, Jenna Condon, and freshman Mary Seabury each contributed 2 points as part of the 5th place 4x100m relay team.

Qualifying members of the Nichols men's and women's track & field teams will see their first postseason action at the NCAA Division III New England Regional on May 5-6 at Blake Track and Field, located in Springfield Mass. on the campus of Springfield College.
