FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Nichols golf team got its fall action underway over the weekend, competing in the George Cangero Invitational at Bethpage Red Golf Course, hosted by Farmingdale State. The Bison placed ninth out of 10 competing teams after both rounds of competition.
 
After recording a team score of 306 on Saturday, Nichols added one stroke to their Sunday outing to finish with an overall stroke count of 613.
 
Using a second day 74, fueled by two birdies, Cameron DeSante posted a two-day total of 151 to lead the Bison in the leaderboard, finishing T-29 in his first collegiate action.
 
Reigning Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Golfer of the Year, Colby Mitchell totaled a 152 to finish T-33.
 
Evan Libby, Drew Stanton, Luke Sargent, and Jake Goldberg finished with scores of 154, 155, 156, and 160, respectively. Stanton used 10 pars and birdie to bounce back with a second day score of 76.
 
Nichols is set to tee off in the CCC Qualifier this Thursday, September 22 at Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth, R.I., hosted by Roger Williams.
