BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Nichols College women's lacrosse program saw three student-athletes receive 2022 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) All-Conference honors for the first time in program history: junior
Erin Anthony and freshmen
McKenzie Muir and
Hadley Houghton.
Houghton was named to the Second Team after notching a single-season program record 55 goals and 73 points, both of which currently lead the CCC. A native of Madison, Connecticut, Houghton has 11 hat tricks this season, highlighted by a pair of five-goal efforts against Wentworth and Curry, a six-goal game against NVU-Lyndon, and a seven-goal performance at Dean on March 4.
Muir – who joined Houghton on the Second Team – is currently tied for the conference lead in caused turnovers with a Nichols single-season record 41, and her 58 draw controls leads the Bison and ranks eighth in the CCC. Also a member of the women's ice hockey program at Nichols, the Bedford, New Hampshire native is tops in the CCC in ground balls with 68. Muir collected a season-high eight GB's and eight caused turnovers earlier this week against Anna Maria, and won a career-high eight draw controls in a win over Gordon on March 30.
Named to the CCC Third Team, Anthony is second on the Bison in both ground balls (55) and caused turnovers (23). The Somers, Connecticut native registered a season-high six ground balls against Salem State (March 23) and the AMCats, and caused turnovers on four occasions. Anthony – who is also a member of the field hockey program – has started all 17 games and owns seven points (2-5-7).
The selection of these three student-athletes marks the first time since 2018 that a member of the program has received all-conference honors, and the first time since 2012 that multiple student-athletes were recognized.
Winners of a program-record 11 games thus far in 2022, the Bison (11-6, 4-4 CCC) head to Middletown, R.I. on Saturday afternoon for a 12:00 p.m. contest with Salve Regina in the CCC Quarterfinals at Gaudet Field.
