The Nichols College golf team sent a pair of squads to compete against Johnson & Wales (RI) and UMass Dartmouth this past weekend at North Kingstown Golf Club. The 'A' group placed second (+44) while the 'B' team was fourth (+120).
 
For the 'A' group, junior Patrick Hesseltine finished second at seven-over par (73-74-147) while classmate TJ Barber earned a share of third-place as he finished at +8 (73-75-148).
 
Sophomore Reece McLeod closed the event tied for seventh at +14 (78-76-154) while sophomore Jacob Willis was 12th at +17 (81-76-157). Sophomore Jake Mola led the 'B' pairing at +23 (81-82-163).
 
Three things you need to know...
-The Wildcats (+35) won the event, finishing nine strokes ahead of the Bison (+44) and 22 in front of UMD (+57).
-Sophomore Claudio Sokamneuth (JWU) medaled as he finished -1 (72-67-139).
-Junior Tyler St. Cyr finished at +31 (86-85-171) for the 'B' group while classmate Michael Battaini was +32 (86-85-171) and freshman Ismael Garcia was +37 (86-91-177). The trio finished 16-17-18.
