Day TwoCRANSTON, R.I. – Senior
Kevin Wheeler (Agawam, Mass.) placed second overall to help the Nichols College golf team earn a sixth-place finish at the Wildcat Spring Invitational this past weekend at Cranston Country Club.
The Bison finished with a team score of 633, which was ahead of Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rivals Endicott (634), Western New England (634), Wentworth (648), and Roger Williams (680).
Wheeler shot 75 on Saturday and 71 on Sunday for a two-day score of 146 (+4), which was one stroke behind Taylor Nordan of Tufts. He has shot no higher than 77 in four of his last five rounds heading into this weekend's CCC Championship in Beverly, Mass.
Sophomore
Caleb Tanson (Rockport, Mass.) finished the event +19 after shooting an 82 on Saturday and a 79 Sunday (161). He earned a share of 41st place. Freshman
Remy Fletcher (Billerica, Mass.) was one stroke behind Tansom with a two-day total of 162 (80-82; +20).
Senior
Nick Masciadrelli (Westfield, Mass.) closed the event +23 with a two-day total of 165 (82-83), which earned him a share of 63rd place. Sophomore
Nick Wage (Holden, Mass.) posted an 81 Saturday and an 85 Sunday for a score of 166 (+24). He finished tied for 72nd place.
Tufts won the event with a total score of 610, followed by Williams (614), Manhattanville (621), and Salem State and Middlebury (622).
