Kevin Wheeler (Agawam, Mass.) shot a 77 on the final day of the Duke Nelson Invitational to help the Nichols College golf team to a 16th place finish Sunday at Ralph Myhre Golf Course.
The Bison posted a two-day total of 652 (330-322), which was behind Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rival Western New England (10th) and ahead of Endicott (17th).
Wheeler – who shot an 82 on Saturday – finished in a tie for 32nd overall. Junior
Colin Whitney (Longmeadow, Mass.) tied for 59th place with a two-day total of 163 (80-83-163). Senior
Nick Masciadrelli (Westfield, Mass.) was third on the Bison and t-67th overall with a 164 (83-81-164), followed by sophomore
Nick Wage (Holden, Mass.) in a tie for 75th place (85-81-166) and freshman
Alex Thompson (Concord, N.H.) in a tie for 107th place (85-88-173).
Rensselaer Tech, Trinity (CT), Rochester, Middlebury, and Salem State finished one through five, respectively.
The Bison compete at the CCC Qualifier on September 18 at 9:15 am at Dunegrass Golf Club in Maine.
