Colin Whitney (Longmeadow, Mass.) shot one-over par over the final 18 holes to help the Nichols College golf team to a 10th place finish at the 2014 Wildcat Spring Invitational Saturday at Cranston Country Club.
The Bison cut six strokes off Friday's score, shooting a 323 on day two to finish at 652 (+84). Whitney - who shot an 83 on Friday - posted a 72 on Saturday to finish in a four-way tie for eighth.
Junior
Kevin Wheeler (Agawam, Mass.) was next for Nichols in 17th place with a two-day total of 157 (76-81; +15). Freshman
Nick Wage (Holden, Mass.) shaved eight strokes off Friday's 90 to finish at +30 (90-82-172) - good for 62nd place.
Senior
Morgan Billings (Scituate, Mass.) shared 65th place as he finished at +32 (83-91-174) while junior
Jordon Kadlik (Kennebunk, Maine) finished in 67th place at +33 (87-88).
Endicott and Husson both finished at +50 (618), but the crown went to the Gulls in a tiebreaker. Rhode Island College was third (622; +54), followed by UMass Dartmouth (634; +66) and Suffolk (635; +67).
Nichols competes at the CCC Championship on April 26 at Franconia Golf Course.
