DUDLEY, Mass. – Junior
Alexis Wegrzynek (Wilbraham, Mass.) recorded 16 points and nine rebounds in Nichols College's 70-57 loss to Endicott College Wednesday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball action at the Nichols Athletic Center.
Wegrzynek also recorded three assists, one steal and one block as the Bison (11-11, 6-9 CCC) saw their two-game win streak snapped. Classmate
Amber Litwinko (Berlin, Conn.) added 12 points on 4-of-16 shooting to go along with seven boards and three assists.
Junior Kayleen Whall (Foxboro, Mass.) and sophomore Kelsey Cuddy (Madison, Conn.) were two of four Endicott student-athletes in double figures as each scored 16 points. Senior Jennifer White (Lisbon, N.H.) recorded a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 14 rebounds to help the Gulls improve to 16-6 on the season (11-4 CCC).
Nichols opened the contest on a 13-5 run behind seven points from Wegrzynek, but the Gulls closed the half on a 24-15 run to take a one-point lead to the locker room(29-28). Whall scored 14 of the Gulls 24 points during the run.
Endicott moved in front 41-32 five minutes into the second half following a layup by White, and the lead grew to 14 on Whall's layup with 8:47 on the clock. The Gulls led by as many as 19 in the stanza.
The Gulls outrebounded Nichols 47-38 and sank 22 free throws, compared to 14 for the Bison. They also knocked down 48 percent of their shots in the second half and finished the game shooting 38 percent (22-of-58). The Bison, meanwhile, shot 34 percent (20-of-59).
Nichols hosts UNE Saturday at 1 p.m. while the Gulls play host to Curry at 1 p.m. Prior to Saturday's contest, the Bison will honor seniors

Devon Spirka (Wilmington, Vt.).
