ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands - Senior captain Amber Litwinko (Berlin, Conn.) scored 23 points in Nichols College's 61-52 loss to Virginia Wesleyan Thursday afternoon in non-conference women's basketball action at the St. Thomas Classic.

Litwinko also pulled down 15 rebounds while classmate and fellow captain Alexis Wegrzynek (Wilbraham, Mass.) tallied 15 points and eight rebounds for the Bison (4-4), who led by three at the half but were outscored 34-22 over the final 20 minutes of the contest. Senior Sarah Whitestone (Dalton, Mass.) netted eight points and was the only other starter to score in the contest for Nichols.

Nancy Kelly (Phoenix, Md.) paced the Marlins with 21 points and 21 rebounds. Senior Brittany Glasco (Fredericksburg, Va.) racked up 14 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals while classmate Andrea Paphites (Virginia Beach, Va.) finished with eight points and for blocks.

Virginia Wesleyan held a 53-39 edge on the glass to improve to 6-3 with the win.

Nichols faces Randolph Macon tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the finale of the tournament.
