Box Score BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Nichols College women's soccer team fell to the University of New England 4-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon.
The Nor'easters (10-2-1, 4-1-1 CCC) got the lead early and never looked back. In the 12th minute, senior Margaret Palmer (Scarborough, Maine) headed in a high corner kick from classmate Lindsey Monaco (Holyoke, Mass.) to make the score 1-0.
The Nor'easters added another before the break when in the 40th minute junior Tori Field (Woolwich, Maine) was able to best junior goaltender
Kelly English (Mansfield, Mass.) to take a 2-0 lead into the half. Freshman Hanna Sihler (Killington, Vt.) was credited with the assist on the play.
Nichols (7-8-0, 2-4-0 CCC) was held to just two shots in the first half while the Nor'easters poured in 11.
Sophomore Anna Michaud (Hampden, Maine) and junior Jackie Dickerson (Windham, N.H.) added goals for the Nor'easters in the second half to put the Bison away.
The Bison were led by freshman
Meghan Dunn (Dudley, Mass.) and senior
Elizabeth Coleman (West Roxbury, Mass.) with two shots apiece. Palmer paced the Nor'easters with six shots while sophomore Taylor Littlefield (Sanford, Maine) had four.
English falls to 4-8-0 on the year with a five-save effort while sophomore Brielle Robinson (Monson, Mass.) stopped two to improve to 6-2-1 on the year.
The Bison host conference foe Western New England on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at the Nichols Soccer Field. The Nor'easters host Salve Regina on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
