Women's Soccer Falls to No. 17 Hartford at Home

DUDLEY, Mass. (10/13/2026) - The Nichols College women's soccer team fell to No. 17 University of Hartford, 6-0, Tuesday afternoon at Michael J. Vendetti Field.

The loss drops Nichols to 2-10-1 overall and 1-5-0 in the Conference of New England (CNE). Hartford improves to 8-2-1 overall and 5-1-0 in conference play.

Hartford opened the scoring in the sixth minute when Kathleen Brush found the back of the net off an assist from Anastasia Nerney. The Hawks added two more goals before the 20-minute mark, with Olivia Fuimara scoring in the 11th minute before Taylor Freimuth extended the lead in the 20th minute.

The Bison continued to battle defensively throughout the first half, with goalkeeper Emily Dougenik making several key saves to keep Hartford from adding to its advantage. Hartford added its fourth goal in the 37th minute when Morgan Egan scored off an assist from Soph Coer, sending the Hawks into halftime with a 4-0 lead.

Hartford extended its lead early in the second half when Reese Sadler scored in the 51st minute off a feed from Fuimara. Sadler added her second goal of the afternoon in the 69th minute, assisted by Egan, to round out the scoring.

Dougenik finished the afternoon with 10 saves, while defender Alyssa Senecal also made several key goal-stopping efforts near the net to help the Bison withstand Hartford's offensive pressure. Nichols recorded five shots, including one on goal, while Hartford finished with 32 shots and 16 on target.

Dougenik played all 90 minutes for the Bison, recording 10 saves against Hartford's offensive attack. Defenders Senecal and midfielder Gianna Masciadrelli also played the full 90 minutes, helping Nichols battle throughout the contest. Summer Bruno logged 87 minutes, while Maggi Cullivan and Hannah Pratt contributed 81 and 76 minutes, respectively.

The Bison return to action Saturday, October 17th, when they host Wentworth Institute of Technology at Nichols Soccer Field for the Hallie Linacre Memorial Game. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m.
