Box Score WENHAM, Mass. – The Nichols College women's soccer team fell 3-0 to Gordon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon at The Quad.
The game remained scoreless until the 35th minute when senior Hannah Midwinter (Barkhamsted, Conn.) connected on a pass from classmate Taylor McSherry (Wolcott, Conn.) for the first goal of the game.
The Fighting Scots (9-4, 3-2 CCC) added one more with just 19 seconds to go in the first half when junior Kaitlyn Hawn (Woodbury, Minn.) put one past junior goaltender
Kelly English (Mansfield, Mass.) to make it a 2-0 lead headed into the half. Freshman Kaelyn Silveira (Bristol, R.I.) was credited with the assist on the play.
Nichols (6-7, 2-3 CCC) was outshot 7-1 in the first half.
Gordon added one more goal early in the second half when Midwinter was able to connect on her second goal of the game to put the Bison away.
The Bison were outshot 13-5 for the game and were led by sophomore
Jillian Krish (Rockland, Mass.) with two shots, while sophomore
Brooke Maher (North Attleboro, Mass.), and seniors
Michelle Gardner (Ayer, Mass.) and
Kim Whalen (Dedham, Mass.) added one. Midwinter and junior Lauren Hayes (Wantage, N.J.) led the way for the Fighting Scots with three shots.
English falls to 3-7-0 on the year with her two save effort while junior McKenzie Dion (North Grafton, Mass.) picked up four saves in the shutout and improves to 9-4-0 on the season.
The Bison were shutout for the third-consecutive game and fourth time in their last five games and fall below .500 for the first time since the third game of the season.Nichols hosts MCLA on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at the Nichols Soccer Field. The Fighting Scots host Plymouth State on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
