WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Nichols College men's golf team combined for a team score of 636 (+68) to place 11th at the Williams Invitational Sunday at the Taconic Golf Course.
The Bison – who were tied for fifth place at the close of the first day of competition – were led by junior Kevin Wheeler (Agawam, Mass.), who finished tied for 11th place with a score of 152 (+10). After shooting a 75 yesterday, he recorded a score of 77 on Sunday.
Sophomore Colin Whitney (Longmeadow, Mass.) was next with a score of 160 (+18); he finished the round with an 83 – six shots higher than Saturday's total – which placed him in a tie for 48th place.
Freshmen Evan Ryan (Norton, Mass.) and Nick Wage (Holden, Mass.) tied for 59th place as each finished with a score of 162 (+20). Wage shot an 82 on Sunday while Ryan was three strokes higher at 85. Junior Nick Masciadrelli (Westfield, Mass.) capped the event at +29 (171) – good for a share of 86th place.
Williams won the event with a team score of 607 (+39). RPI was the runner-up with a team score of 611 (+43), followed by Trinity (612; +44), Skidmore (614; +46), and Middlebury (618; +50).
