Nichols finishes eighth at Trinity Invitational

FARMINGTON, Conn. – Junior Kevin Wheeler (Agawam, Mass.) shot a 73 (+1) to finished in a tie for 14th place and help the Nichols College golf team to an eighth place finish at the Trinity Invitational Sunday at the Tunxis Plantation Golf Course.
 
Wheeler shaved 10 strokes off Saturday's total and finished with a two-day total of 156 (+12). Sophomore Colin Whitney (Longmeadow, Mass.) was next with a two-day total of 157 (+13); he took three strokes of Saturday's round and shot a 77 on Sunday.
 
Sophomore Benjamin Ilg (Bristol, R.I.) – who shot a team-leading 79 on Saturday – shot an 85 on Sunday (+13) to finish tied for 32rd with a two-day total of 164 (+20). Junior Nick Masciardrelli (Westfield, Mass.) posted a two-day total of 165 (82-83) to finish tied for 34th, followed by freshman Nick Wage (Holden, Mass.) with a score of 169 (+25). He took three strokes off his round one total and shot an 83 on Sunday. Sophomore Bobby Lucy (Shirley, Mass.) rounded out the Nichols golfers by shooting a 90 on Sunday to bring his total to 175.
 
Nichols competes at the Duke Nelson Invitational on Sept. 14-15 at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course.
