Bison place ninth at Wildcats Spring Invitational

CRANSTON, R.I. - Sophomore Kevin Wheeler (Agawam, Mass.) shot a 72 (+1) Sunday morning to help the Nichols College golf team to a ninth-place finish at the 2013 Wildcats Spring Invitational, hosted by Johnson & Wales (RI), Sunday morning at the Cranston Country Club. The Bison posted a two-day team score of 654, which placed them in a tie with Endicott.

Wheeler's two-day score of 151 (+9) placed in a tie for third-place. Freshman Colin Whitney (Longmeadow, Mass.), meanwhile, tied for 13th with a two-day total of 157 (+16); he finished Sunday at nine-over par (80). Senior captain Matthew Quigley (Sturbridge, Mass.) finished Sunday's round at +12 (83) to bring his two-day total to 170 (+19), which left him in a tie for 49th place.

Freshman Bobby Lucy (Fitchburg, Mass.) was +12 on Sunday (83) and finished tied for 62nd with a total score of 177. Sophomore Jordon Kadlik (Kennebunk, Maine) rounded out the Bison as he shot an 87 (+16) and ended the event tied for 64th with a score of 180.

Henry Fall of Elms College was a medalist as he posted the lowest individual score with a 150 (+8); he shaved four strokes off Saturday's round to shoot a 73 Sunday. Rhode Island College won the team competition, combining to post a 619. Salem State was second, 12 strokes off the lead with a score of 631, while Western New England captured third (634).
