DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Freshman
Colin Whitney (Longmeadow, Mass.) and sophomore
Kevin Wheeler (Agawam, Mass.) finished 1-2 to propel the Nichols College golf team to a second place finish at the Hampton Inn Classic Saturday at Allendale Country Club.
The Bison finished with a team score of 312 (+24). Whitney – who was also a medalist at the Trinity Invitational – shot at even 72 to capture the individual championship. Wheeler, meanwhile, finished one stroke back (73) to place second.
Senior
Matthew Quigley (Sturbridge, Mass.) was the next highest Nichols finisher as he placed in a tie for 56th place with an 83 (+11). Sophomore
Jordon Kadlik (Kennebunk, Maine) was one stroke behind Quigley with an 84 (+12), followed by freshman
Bobby Lucy (Fitchburg, Mass.) in 76th place with an 87 (+15) .
UMass Dartmouth captured first place with a team score of 305 (+17). Amherst and Tufts tied for third as each recorded a team score of 315 (+27) while Husson took fifth with a 316 (+28).
The Bison return to action on April 18 when they compete at the Western New England Invitational.
