"I'm very proud of the effort from our team today," said Nichols second-year head coach Alice Mullen. "Our starters set the tone and our bench didn't miss a beat. It's a grat step in the right direction for our program."

The Bison trailed by three 12 minutes into the first before they closed the half on 26-12 run to take a 30-19 lead into the half. A layup by Wegrzynek gave them an 8-7 lead with 10:38 left in the half, and they held the lead for the remainder of the contest. Wegrzynek finished the stanza with a game-high 10 points while Pelletier had nine. Junior Brooke Kratche (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) led Gordon – which committed 17 first-half turnovers – with nine points.

A jumper by junior Sarah Whitestone (Dalton, Mass.) pushed the Bison lead to 20 at 40-20 with 13 minutes left in the second half, and a pair of free throws by Pelletier at 8:04 gave them their largest lead of the afternoon at 26 (50-24).

Gordon held a slim 43-41 edge on the glass, led by eight from Kratche. Sophomore Mariel Barner (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and freshman Fredi Nielsen (Bridgeport, Conn.) each scored five points for the visitors.
