BREWSTER, Mass. – The Nichols College golf team moved up four spots from day one at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship to finish 20th with a team score of 645 (+69) Monday at The Captains Golf Course.
The Bison finished 10th amongst Division III institutions, including ahead of Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) members Wentworth (t-24th) and UNE (t-30th).
Junior
Kevin Wheeler (Agawam, Mass.) cut two strokes off Sunday's total and moved up to earn a share of 22nd place with a two-day total of 154 (78-76; +18). Junior
Colin Whitney (Longmeadow, Mass.) also shaved two strokes off his first-day total to move out of a tie for 76th place and finish with a share of 46th place with a score of 158 (80-78; +14).
Freshman
Evan Ryan (Norton, Mass.) struggled to match the 80 he posted on Sunday and finished with an 85 (165; +21), which placed him in a tie for 109th place. Junior
Nick Masciadrelli (Westfield, Mass.) cut three stroke off Sunday's 86 to place in a tie for 137th with a 169 (86-83; +25).
Freshman
Nick Wage (Holden, Mass.) rounded out the field for Nichols, shooting a 171 (85-86-171; +27) to place in a tie for 147th place.
Three Division I institutions topped the leaderboard as Central Connecticut (597; +21), the University of Rhode Island (600; +24), and Bryant (611; +35) paced the field. Fellow CCC member Western New England – the highest Division III finisher – placed fourth with a team score of 616 (+40).
