PROVIDENCE, R.I.  – Senior Megan Woodruff (Morris, Conn.) and first-year Michelle Keklik (Stratford, Conn.) teamed up to claim the third doubles flight as the Nichols College women's tennis team defeated Rhode Island College, 7-2, in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon.
 
Nichols (2-2) cruised past RIC (0-4) in doubles, sweeping the Anchorwomen to take control of the match. Junior Anna Dyakiv (Amsterdam, N.Y.) and senior Jillian McQuiggan (Weymouth, Mass.) paved the way with an 8-0 victory at No. 1 singles, while sophomore Lindsay Benoit (Holden, Mass.) and senior Alexandra Cifone (Bristol, Conn.) notched the, 8-1, victory at No. 2 doubles. Woodruff and Keklik rounded out the scoring with an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
 
Rookie Tressa Cannata (Cranston, R.I.) put points on the board for the hosts at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 7-5. Sophomore Janice Wang (Branchburg, N.J.) followed with a win at No. 5 singles after her opponent was forced to retire due to an injury. Meanwhile, Dyakiv and Benoit led the Bison, as the duo quickly dispatched their opponents at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.
 
Dyakiv was victorious, 6-0, 6-1, while Benoit came away with the win, 6-0, 6-0. Cifone followed suit with a victory at No. 3 singles, while sophomore Katie Malloy (Norwell, Mass.) earned the, 6-2, 6-0, win at No. 6 singles.
 
The Bison entertain Wesleyan tomorrow morning for an 11:00 a.m. contest.
