GRANBY, Mass. – The Nichols College golf team placed ninth with a combined score of 343 at the Blazers Fall Invitational Wednesday morning at Westover Golf Course.
Senior captain
Matthew Quigley (Sturbridge, Mass.) paced the Bison, shooting a 79 to finish at +7, which placed him in a tie for seventh place overall. He shot a 41 on the front nine and a 38 on the back nine.
Freshman
Pat Flanagan (Westford, Mass.) was second on the squad and tied for 39th overall with an 86 (+14) as he went for 45 on the front nine and posted a 41 on the back nine. Classmates
John Coogan (Leicester, Mass.),
Benjamin Ilg (Bristol, R.I.) and
Jordan Kadlik (Kennebunk, Maine) all finished tied for 47th with a score of 89 (+17). Both Coogan and Ilg shot a 45 on the front nine and a 41 on the backside while Kadlik notched a 46-43.
Host Elms College captured first-place with a team score of 309 as three of its student-athletes tied for first-place at +1 (73). Rhode Island College was second at 311, followed by Emmanuel (325), Westfield State (329), and Castleton State (331).
The Bison return to action on October 12-13 when they compete at the Johnson & Wales Invitational.
